GARY C. RAMSEYER NORMAL, Illinois -- Gary C. Ramseyer, 77, of Normal and Naples, Florida, passed away at 6:05 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal. Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at the East Lawn Funeral Home, 1102 Airport Road, Bloomington, Illinois, 61704. Inurnment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of East Lawn Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, Normal. Gary was born on October 18, 1934, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Clyde W. and Anna M. McKibben Ramseyer. He married Barbara Kay Stientjes on August 20, 1961, in Sioux City, Iowa. Gary taught math for four years at University High School and was a graduate assistant, both at the University of Iowa. He received his PhD in Educational Statistics from the University of Iowa in 1965 and later served on the Alumni board. l, ISU Credit Union Board and the Redbird Club Board. Gary had a lifelong love of sports and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He played baseball semi-professionally with the Muscatine Red Sox from 1952-63. He coached his son's travel baseball team, served on the American Legion Baseball Committee, and was an IHSA umpire. He also owned J & G Baseball Cards. Gary was a member of the Normal Lion's Club and numerous professional organizations. He was a distinguished member of the Iowa NAPP club. He was very proud of his Internet Gallery of Statistics Jokes that appeared in the top 10 search results on Google. Most important was the relationship Gary had with his family. He was an excellent father, grandfather and husband. He enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's musical and athletic activities. Gary is survived by his wife, Barbara Ramseyer of Normal, Illinois, and Naples, Florida; one son, Joel Ramseyer of Normal; one daughter, Vicki Morrow and husband, Jamie, of Naperville; five grandsons, Austin, Christopher and Caleb Ramseyer and Brandon and Ryan Morrow; one sister, Margaret Wilson and husband, Dick, of Muscatine, Iowa; and three nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Clark Ramseyer; one sister and brother-in-law, Jeannie and Leo Mallie; and an infant brother.
