Funeral services for Kenneth Marker, 86, will be Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Indianola. Interment will be at the Norwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lacona. Kenneth was born April 5, 1926 in Lucas County to Jesse E. and Lena Mae Marker. His early life was spent in the Norwood area. He graduated in 1945 from Norwood High School. Kenneth married Helen Jo Snodgrass on June 1, 1947. Helen was everything to Kenneth. He was a devoted and loving husband. They enjoyed family gatherings and traveling. They started farming in the Norwood area and then purchased a farm near Woodburn and farmed there until retiring. Kenneth and Helen moved to Indianola in the late 80's on the advice of his doctor telling him he needed to get away from the farm. After moving to Indianola Kenneth made the daily trip to his Woodburn farm where he continued to farm and raise cattle. He sold his last cows two years ago. f the Assembly of God Children's Home as a foster son. They were also blessed with a grandson Brandon. Kenneth was a faithful Christian from an early age. He is currently a member of First Assembly of God in Indianola. Kenneth went to his heavenly reward on April 14th 2012. He was 86 years old. Preceding Kenneth in death are his wife, Helen in 2008; his parents; his sister, Doris Pollitt; brothers, John and Homer; brothers-in-law: Robert Penick, Franklin Fleeman, and David Schnoor. Kenneth is survived by his son, Larry (Belinda) Reilly; daughter, Dawn Fortier; six grandchildren; sisters: Vera Penick of Indianola, Frances Marker and Pat Schnoor of Des Moines, Marjorie Fleeman of Knoxville; brothers: Jerry (Sunny) Marker of Johnston, Larry (Sherry) Marker of Woodburn; brother-in-law, Ralph Pollitt of Lucas; sister-in-law, Sonya Marker of Ankeny; special friends, Howard & Joyce Strange of Texas; nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends. Kenneth will be buried beside his beloved wife at the Norwood Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made in Kenneth's name to the First Assembly of God Church in Indianola.
