GENE FULLER MUSCATINE, Iowa - Gene Anthony Fuller, 85, of Muscatine, died on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Lutheran Homes. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012, at the St. Mathias Church, 215 West Eighth Street. The Reverend Jason Crossen of Ss. Mary and Mathias Parish will officiate. A funeral luncheon will be held at Gannon Hall following the service. Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice or Food 4 the Poor. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Gene was born on April 28, 1926, in Muscatine, the son of Ralph B. and Helen Anderson Fuller. He married Vera Deloris Phillips on June 2, 1950, in Muscatine. He served in the Naval Air Force during World War II as an Aviation Ordnance man with a Naval Seaplane Patrol Bomb Squadron in China and the South Pacific. He was proud to be employed by HON Industries for over 42 years, as a purchasing agent and buyer. In 1985, Gene's 1911 Ford won the Grand Champion award over 350 other entrants at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. He was a member of the Model T Ford Club of America, the Model T Ford Club International, and The Great River Flivvers. Gene is survived by his wife, Vera Fuller of Muscatine; two sons, Joel Fuller and wife, Dianne, and John Fuller and wife, Darla, all of Muscatine; one daughter, Julie Tinnes and husband, Doug, of Keota; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Janet Hunter of Cedar Rapids. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and twin granddaughters.
