Erika Ruth Deck

Erika "Ruth" Deck, 84, of Keokuk, IA, died, Monday, April 30, 2012 at Lexington Square Health Center in Keokuk, IA. Ruth was born April 9, 1928 in Montreal, Canada the daughter of Ernst & Hedwig Zenker Schmidt. She married Millard J. Deck on June 21, 1950 in Kahoka, MO and he preceded her in death in 1986. She graduated from SCC in 1976 and was a homemaker and done volunteer work at many places. Ruth was a member of New Testament Christian Church. She was very proud of her American Citizenship that she attained in the early 1950's. Ruth worked in the Democratic Party. She was also a Cub Scout Leader many years ago while her sons were in scouting. Ruth was very loving and caring of her family and friends. She is survived by seven children: Nancy Jones of Keokuk, Ernest Vaughn of Keokuk, John (Joyce) Vaughn of Keokuk, Mildred Erica Baker of Shelburne, VT, Millard E. Deck of Keokuk, Christine Penrose of Bostic, NC and Eric R. (Yvonne) Deck of Prior Lake, MN; one sister-in-law: Rosemary Deck and Sandy Deck both of Keokuk, IA.; one brother-in-law: Don (Shirley) Deck of Ft.
