Daniel William Harvey

Daniel William Harvey, age 69, of Macedonia, IA, passed away at Hospice with Heart in Glenwood, IA on May 13, 2012, following a long illness with cancer. Daniel was one of five children of Ferne Elma (Smith) and Glenn R. Harvey, born on December 1, 1942 at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. (The hospital bill was a whopping $42.50 for the standard five day stay.) Daniel graduated from Carson-Macedonia High School in 1960 and graduated with a BSAS (Bachelor of Science in Applied Science) Degree in 1964 from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. While at Simpson, he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and was on the Dean's List. Daniel worked 32 years with the Nabisco Biscuit Company at various management positions throughout the Midwest and was fortunate to be able to retire at the age 54. His retirement years were actively spent in the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, and hiking with his bride. He also enjoyed gardening and reading. Staszak and husband Kevin, and their sons, Jayce and Tyler, all of Oconomowoc, WI; sisters, Gwen Campbell and husband Paul of Treynor, IA, Maralene Wilhelm of Corpus Christi, TX, and Rosalie Ridgdell and husband Ben of Roseville, CA; brother Rick Harvey and wife Karen of Fort Collins, CO; mother-in-law Phyllis Bingham of Council Bluffs; brother-in-law Brian Bingham and wife Brenda of Council Bluffs; sister-in-law Sheri Dorris and husband James of Colorado Springs, CO; many precious nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of friends. Celebration of Life services were held Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the Carson United Methodist Church with inurnment in the Carson Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
