Everett Lee Thompson was born February 22, 1927 in Buffalo Center, the 2nd of 13 children of Lauren and Goldie (Steele) Thompson. He grew up on a farm near Lakota graduating from Lakota High School in 1945. He served in the United States Army during World War II working as a medic. Everett was united in marriage to Helen Ruth Anderson on June 19, 1949 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They lived for a few years in Waterloo and then moved to Ledyard where he worked for 35 years at Standard Oil until retiring in 1988. Everett enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and playing cards. In retirement, he also enjoyed delivering Winnebago's. He was a member of Bethany E. & R. Church and the Matzner-Estle American Legion Post #675 of Ledyard. Everett L. Thompson died Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong at the age of 85. He had been a resident there since September, 2009. and Zachary and Derek Thompson; two step-grandchildren, Tony Berte and Roberta Bergquist; four great-grandchildren, Isaac, Shantel, and Jackson Engeman and Ana Engeman; four step-great-grandchildren, Maxwell, Sydney, Mason and Weston Bergquist; and one step-great-great-grandson, Bremer Bergquist. He is also survived by nine brothers and sisters, Irene (George) Wempen of Buffalo Center, Raymond (Bev) Thompson of Mesa, AZ, Ruth (Melvin) Harringa of Buffalo Center, Eldon Thompson of Bancroft, Glen Thompson of Ledyard, Janice (David) Winter of Lakota, Sharon (Marion) Burt of Ledyard, Roger (Linda) Thompson of Lakota; and Larry (Rita) Thompson of Lakota; a sister-in-law, Carol Thompson of Bancroft; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Helen on February 28, 2002; two brothers, Harold and Howard Thompson; and one sister, Dorothy Vodraska.
