Edith M."Dolly" Steines

Edith Mae "Dolly" Steines, 86, of Keokuk, died at 12:30 am Saturday, June 02, 2012, at River Hills Village in Keokuk, Iowa. Dolly was born May 30, 1926, in Bankston, Iowa, a daughter of Louis and Clara Backes O'Hare. She married Sylvester John Steines on November 21, 1944, in Bankston, Iowa at Saint Clements Catholic Church. In 1979 she retired from Xavier Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa. She and Sylvester moved to Keokuk in 1986 and belonged to All Saints Catholic Church. She is survived by three daughters and two sons, Carol Adams and husband Tarry of Somonauk, Illinois, Debbie Maille of Ft. Madison, Iowa, Cindy Finney and husband Blair of Waterloo, Iowa, David F. Steines and wife Wanda Steines of Virginia Beach, Virginia and S. John (Jack) Steines and wife Meriel of Annapolis, Maryland. In addition she is survived by eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, brother-in-law Alfred Breitback of Dubuque, Iowa and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sylvester on January 5, 2002, her only sister Betty Breitback, one brother Francis O'Hare, and one child Janice Lynn, in infancy. at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 1212 Concert Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am, Friday, June 8, 2012, at All Saints Catholic Church with Rev. Robert Lathrop officiating. Burial will follow in Keokuk National Cemetery. Memorial may be made for Keokuk Catholic Schools or for masses.
