Robert L. DeLong

Robert L. DeLong Sr, age 93, of Springboro, OH; died Saturday June 2, 2012 at his residence. Robert was born in Eskdale, WV and was raised in Soldier Ky. He was born on August 23, 1918 to Dennis and Martha (Ruggles) DeLong. Robert was a veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Navy as a Chief Gunners Mate 2nd class from 1938-1945 on board the U.S.S. Boise. He was employed by General Motors for 33 years and retired in 1978 and then was a courier with River Valley Credit Union for a number of years. Robert was a member of the West Carrollton Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Louis, and 2 sisters Viola and Virginia. Robert is survived by his wife Virginia L. (Hollingsworth) DeLong; 2 sons Robert L. DeLong Jr and wife Marie, Louis D. DeLong and wife Joann; 5 grandchildren Brian Blevins, Amanda, Tyler, Steven, and Paige DeLong; a great grandchild Addison; numerous nieces and nephews.
