Timothy D. Sands CONESVILLE, Iowa -- Timothy D. "Tim" Sands, 48, of Conesville, died on Friday, June 8, 2012, from injuries suffered at the CJ Speedway. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2012, at the United Presbyterian Church, 209 East Main Street, Washington, Iowa 52353. Interment will take place in the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. A general memorial has been established. Tim was born on July 11, 1963, in Des Moines, the son of Donald Frank and Mildred Elena Anderson Sands. He attended school in Columbus Junction and graduated from Columbus Community High School in 1982. He attended Iowa State University in Ames. Tim lived all of his life in Cotter and Conesville. He worked at River Products in Iowa City, where he was supervisor of special projects and was also a field welder. He enjoyed fishing with his kids, taking his family to ride go-karts, going out to eat, and going deer and pheasant hunting. his wife, Julie Denkmann of Conesville; a daughter, Jennifer Sands of Cotter; a son, Benjamin "Ben" Sands and Kirsten Reed of Cotter; and son, Steven Denkmann of Tybee Island, Georgia; three grandchildren, Jade, Malakai and Owen; a sister, Pat Moyer and her children, Dana and Tim Moyer, of Washington; a brother, Frank Sands of Cotter; many nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law, Bob Murdock and wife, Lisa, of Niles, Michigan, and Mike Murdock of Conesville; and a sister-in-law, Linda Nicklin and husband, Bill, of Douds. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Mildred Sands; his father-in-law, Robert Murdock; a brother-in-law, Rick Murdock; and a niece, Lindsey Smith.
