Norman Walter Gritton ROCHESTER, Iowa -- Norman Walter Gritton, 64, of Rochester, died on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, from complications of meningitis. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at the Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. The Rev. Ron Lashmit will officiate services. Burial will take place at the Rochester Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012, the funeral home. A general memorial fund has been established in memory of Norman. Norman was born on May 23, 1948, in Rochester, the son of Vearl and Minnie Osborn Gritton,. He was a graduate of Tipton High School, class of 1966. He was united in marriage to Gracie Arlene Clements on September 3, 1966, in Tipton. He was employed as a road maintenance heavy equipment operator for the Iowa Department of Transportation for 20-plus years. Norman was involved in the Rochester Labor Day Committee and enjoyed being an announcer for the Snapper City Days Parade.
