Joel Dean Belitz DURANT, Iowa--Joel Dean Belitz, 58, of Durant, died on Monday, June 18, 2012 at his home following a brief illness. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2012, at his home, 310 Second Street, Durant. Inurnment will take place at a later date. The Bentley Funeral Home of Durant is in charge of the arrangements. Joel was born on December 29, 1953, to Elmer and Wilma Voss Belitz in Davenport. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1972 and married Kim L. Paper on May 20, 1978 in Durant. Joel was a self-employed carpet installer for 39 years. He was a member of the Scott County Snow Seekers Snowmobile Club and enjoyed the many snowmobile trips he made. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed boating on the river, golfing with his buddies and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends on their annual Ozark vacations.
