James "Doc" Smalley ROCK ISLAND, Illinois--James "Doc" Smalley, 98, of Grandview, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island. Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at the Grandview Community Bible Church. Pastor Darryl Erickson and Pastor Doug Karst will officiate the services. Following the memorial services a time of food and fellowship will be held at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Grandview Community Bible Church in memory of Doc. "Doc" was born on December 7, 1913, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Earle and Mary Sizek Smalley. In 1937, Doc was united in marriage to Alice Garnes in Muscatine. Doc farmed in Muscatine and Louisa County for many years. He was a member of the Grandview Community Bible Church. Doc was a great dad, grandpa and great-grandpa who enjoyed attending his great-grandchildren's sporting events. Doc will be deeply missed by his children, James W.
