Dean W. Dodds

Dean William Dodds was born July 31, 1942, in Algona, Iowa, the son of William and Frances (Winkel) Dodds. He grew up in Algona where he attended St. Cecelia's Academy for 11 years and in 1960 was a member of the first graduating class from Bishop Garrigan High School. Dean went on to attend Iowa State University before returning to Algona. On June 29, 1963, Dean was united in marriage to Doris Ann Kohlhaas in Algona. They lived and farmed near Algona and Dean also ran a portable feed grinder. After Doris Ann's death, Dean was later united in marriage to Barbara Ringsdorf on October 31, 1985. Dean continued to farm. Dean enjoyed doing mechanical work and restoring antique tractors, which he later drove in tractor rides in the area. He was especially proud of his 1066 International. He enjoyed attending sporting activities, hunting, fishing and playing cards. Dean was a member of the Knights of Columbus and past Fair Board Member, 4-H leader and board member of the Whittemore Co-op. Dean died Friday, July 6, 2012, at the Algona Manor Care Center.
