Dwayne F. Carter

Dwayne F. Carter, 67, of Keokuk, died at 12:34 AM Saturday, July 21, 2012, at his home. He was born in Keokuk, IA on May 18, 1945 a son to Matthew & Oteria Foster Carter. Dwayne married Janet Carlson on January 18, 1969 in Ft. Madison, IA, she survives. He was a member and served on the Board of Directors of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. Dwayne was also a member of Deer Run Golf Course, American Legion Post #41, Keokuk Chess Club, Local Grain Miller's Union and attended the Tinder Family Band. He worked at Rouquette of America and served in the U.S. Army. Besides his wife Janet, Dwayne is survived by two children: Stacy Carter and Brad Carter, both of Keokuk; four grandchildren: Talijia Wells and Bryce Daisy of Keokuk, and Kordell and Ketrell Carter both of Bloomington, MN; one sister: Theresa Carter-Seay and her husband Clifford of Keokuk; one brother: Gerald Carter of Bloomington, MN; one uncle: Leonard Carter of Houston, TX; step-mother: Lula Carter of Peoria, IL; four step-sisters; one step-brother; five nieces; five nephews; one sister-in-law: Barbara Walter and her husband David; and special friends: Dewey & Sheila Clardy and Ronnie & Suzan Payne....[more]

e was preceded in death by his parents, a son in infancy: Brian Edward Carter, two brothers: Keith and Harold Carter, two sisters: Wanda Carter and baby girl Carter at birth, three aunts and seven uncles. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church on Friday, July 27 at 11:00 AM with Rev. J. T. Brown officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 10 to 11 am at the church. Burial will be in Keokuk National Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be made to Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.
