he U.S. State Department in 1992 as an Information Management Technical Specialist. While in the State Department he was based in Washington, D.C., Ft. Lauderdale, Nairobi, and Pretoria, South Africa. While in Nairobi, he earned the Secretary's Award for the injuries he sustained during the 1998 terrorist attack of Nairobi by Osama bin Ladin. Mr. Hirn was a member of Plantation United Methodist Church. He was an accomplished radio ham operator (call letters W8ALN). He was a master scuba diver who took dive trips all around the world. He aided the city of Dayton in underwater recovery. He loved to travel. Everyone who knew him understood how much he hated the cold weather. His favorite pastimes were reading and taking daily walks in the Florida sunshine. There will be a visitation at Plantation United Methodist Church, 1001 NW 70th Ave, Plantation, FL, on Monday, August 6, 2012 from 9:30-10:30AM.
