William Card

Madison - William Hays Card of Madison died on August 5, 2012 at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg after a brief, but valiant struggle with cancer. He was born in Milwaukee on November 27, 1929 to Onward Hays Card and Lorraine (Hanson) Card. He was educated in the Milwaukee Public Schools and at the University of Wisconsin where he earned the Bachelor of Science degree in 1951 and Doctor of Medicine degree in 1954. He served his internship at Detroit Receiving Hospital and upon completion entered the United States Army where he served as a medical officer in Korea. Returning to Madison he began a residency in pathology and was certified in both anatomic and clinical pathology in 1962. He also pursued post-doctoral work in clinical chemistry. He practiced his profession in Milwaukee and Indianapolis, and completed his career in Madison from 1975 until his retirement in 1994. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret Brody Card, his daughter Ellen Frangules (Philippe), and three grandchildren: Emma Frangules, William Hays Frangules, and Isabel Frangules all of Concord, MA. Reynolds all of the Milwaukee area. A gathering to celebrate his life will be held at the Agrace Hospice, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison on Saturday, August 11, 2012 from 3 until 5 in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg where his last days were managed with exquisite care and skill. A life well lived and well loved.
