Albert Zemke, 86, of Fort Dodge, died Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, November 21, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Fort Dodge with Rev. James Laupp officiating. Burial will be in the North Lawn Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the V.F.W. Post #1856 and the Iowa Army National Guard. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge. Albert is survived by his son, Dennis (Ruth) Zemke of Fort Dodge; nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and one great great grand daughter. He is preceded in death by his wife, Darleen; his daughter, Starla Kay Hamlow on November 15, 1996; his grandparents, his parents, his two sisters, a brother; and one grandson. Albert Frederick Zemke, the son of Edward and Sephronia (McBride) Zemke was born December 28, 1924 in Maryville, Missouri. In 1942, he graduated from Fort Dodge High School and attended junior college in Fort Dodge and graduated from Tobin Business College in 1946. er that month, Albert entered the United States Army and served in Kobe, Japan. He received his honorable discharge on April 19, 1947 and after his discharge, Albert worked for the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local #33 out of Des Moines. After Albert retired, they continued to make Fort Dodge their home and enjoyed their camping at Lake Okoboji. Darleen passed away on December 8, 2004. Albert was a member of the First Baptist Church, Plumbers & Steamfitters Union Local #33, and the American Legion.
