Deloris Askelson Behrens, 92, of Fort Dodge, died Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Tompkins Memorial Health Center in Fort Dodge. Services will be 3:30 PM Tuesday at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge. Deloris is survived by her husband, Glen Behrens; three daughters, Rita (Henry) Milberger of Fort Dodge, Sue (Bill) Busacker of Loveland, CO and Pat (Mark) Thompson of Fort Dodge: her six grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She is also survived be five step children, Donna (Larry) Troxel of Quincy, IL, Shirley (Marv) Morrison of Urbandale, IA, Dave (Mary) Behrens of Lester Prairie, MN, Ron (Becky) Behrens of Tiffin, IA, and Mark (Sandra) Behrens of Westminster, CA; and 15 step grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband Ernest, her parents, two of her children, Linda Askelson and Bruce Askelson; three brothers, Ewald, Lawrence, and Emmet Schulze and three sisters, Lilly Tyrrell, Frieda Gehring, and Vernice Meyer. ze was born February 14, 1919 in Deer Creek Township, Webster County. She attended Trinity Lutheran School at Deer Creek and graduated in 1937 from Clare High School. In November of 1946, she married Ernest Askelson and after their marriage the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Ernest died in January of 1957. After his death she continued to stay at home raising her family. Deloris later worked for the Fort Dodge High School and Trinity Regional Hospital in their dietary departments. On September 4, 1976, Deloris married Glen Behrens in Fort Dodge. She loved to play cards, gardening, sewing, and quilting. She was known for her beautiful flower gardens. Deloris and Glen moved to Friendship Haven on November 1, 2007. Memorials may be left to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Building Fund.
