Betty Sunner

Betty Marie Sunner, 74, died Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Tompkins Memorial Health Center, Fort Dodge, Iowa. The cause of death was a long battle with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. Betty Marie Steffenson, the daughter of Andrew and Myrtle Steffenson, was born December 8, 1937 in Goldfield, Iowa. Betty lived in Laurens for many years before settling in Spirit Lake with her late husband Kurt. Betty was a full time housekeeper and an amazing mother to 3 children Kim, Kurt E., and Jeff. She loved her plants and flowers but her passion was family photos and time spent at the lake. Betty loved to hold events at their lake home as she was one of the greatest hosts. Survivors include her daughter Kim Sunner, Seattle, WA, Kurt E. Sunner and wife Machelle, Fort Dodge, and Jeff Sunner; her sisters Mary Ann (Bob) Lane, Renwick, Merlyn (Jerry) Tjelle, Holt, MO, and her brother Orville (Charolette "Chuck") Steffenson, Goldfield. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
