Jonathon David Spencer

Jonathon David Spencer, 19, of Fort Dodge succumbed to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Saturday, June 9, 2012. A service honoring Jon's life will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 14 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Allen Henderson officiating. Interment will be at North Lawn Cemetery. The visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Jon is survived by his mother Julie (Peterson) Spencer (Scott Reid), and his father Steve Spencer; brother Christopher Wilson and sister Maranda Spencer, all of Fort Dodge; grandparents, Jerry and Barb Peterson, and Ruby Spencer, all of Fort Dodge; two special aunts, Sarah Larson and Cindy Peterson; his 'babe' Millie Jondle; her parents, Rusty and Kris Jondle, of Fort Dodge; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Jon was born February 22, 1993 in Newport News, Virginia. He lived in Fort Dodge until the age of five when he moved to Ames where he attended Sawyer Elementary. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 2011. While at Senior High, Jon was active in many sports and received a varsity letter in basketball for his junior and senior years and a letter in football during his senior year. He also participated on the track team and enjoyed playing other sports outside of school. Jon planned to continue his education so he could establish a floor tiling business. Jon will be remembered for his infectious smile (voted best smile) and laugh. He loved being with his friends and family and enjoyed life to the fullest. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.
