Wayne Eugene Turner

Wayne Eugene Turner, son of Marjorie (Ayer) and Ernest Turner, was born on July 1, 1934 in Henderson, Iowa. He grew up in the Henderson area and at the age of 16, graduated from Henderson High School. Wayne enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Army Occupation (Germany) Medal. Following his honorable discharge, Wayne returned to Iowa and farmed in the Carson and Macedonia, Iowa areas. Wayne and Anna Rosette Rose were married on March 8, 1954 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They made their home in Carson and their marriage was blessed with three children, Debbie, Terry, and Randy. Wayne was a member of the Carson Presbyterian Church and the Ruby Smith Legion Post 648 in Macedonia. He served as a scout master when his boys were young and loved to play pitch. Wayne enjoyed camping trips to Prairie Rose State Park near Harlan, Iowa and Botna Bend Park near Hancock, Iowa. He and his little dog "Mya" were inseparable. e passed away on September 5, 2012 at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He attained the age of 78 years, 2 months, and 4 days and was preceded in death by his parents. Wayne is survived by his beloved wife Anna Turner of Carson; daughter Debbie McCarthy and husband John of Kenai, Alaska; sons, Terry Turner of Macedonia, and Randy Turner and wife Paula of Oakland, Iowa; ten grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; other relatives; and a host of friends. A memorial fund has been established. Military Honors and private family inurnment in Carson Cemetery. Loess Hills Funeral Home of Carson in charge of arrangements.
