Cecelia May Sprague, 88, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at the Maquoketa Care Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. Public graveside services and burial celebrating Cecelia's life will be held at 1:30 P.M., Monday, September 24, 2012, from the Esgate Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family. Cecelia May Scoby was born on February 11, 1924 in Clinton, Iowa, to Joseph Victor and Mary Pruella (McPeak) Scoby. She was educated through the 11th grade and then received her GED. She married Seldon B. Sprague on May 10, 1962 in Manchester, Iowa. Cecelia had been a mother and homemaker first. She then worked at the Jackson County Public Hospital in the laundry department for 17 years. Cecelia had been a member of the Maquoketa American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and AARP. Cecelia is survived by nieces and nephews; friends; and her extended family at the Maquoketa Care Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
