COUTU, WILLIAM JOSEPH, of Cooper City, Florida passed away September 19, 2012. He was born on February 23, 1930, in Newton Upper Falls, MA, and raised in Lowell and Roxbury, MA. He moved to Florida in the late 1950's and started working for National Airlines as a refueler, later retiring from Pan Am in 1989. He married Patricia O'Day in 1960, and they raised their family in Hialeah, FL. It was true to form that William never met a stranger. Everyone he met became his friend. He was an avid outdoors person. It was customary for him to walk 3 miles a day or ride his bike 6 miles. He enjoyed the beach as well as the mountains. He climbed Long's Peak & Flattop Mt (CO), and Mt. Washington (NH). If you lived in Cooper City, you probably saw him on one of his walks. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia of 51 years, his sister Lorraine Coakley of Jamaica Plain, MA, and sister Jacqueline (Tom) Mowles of Summerfield, FL. He is also survived by his children Laura (Roy) Baldwin, William (Celine) Coutu, Jr., Andrew (Marianne) Coutu, and many loving grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday October 6, 10am at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 5601 South Flamingo Road, Southwest Ranches, FL 33330 - 954 434 3777. Burial will be held later in October at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Chelmsford, MA.
