Franklin Lee Fitzpatrick

Franklin L. "Fitz" Fitzpatrick, 81, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Wednesday evening, September 26, 2012, at the Maquoketa Care Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. A celebration of Franklin's life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the Carson Celebration of Life Center, Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M. on Monday, October 1, 2012 at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, with military honors. Franklin Lee Fitzpatrick was born on April 21, 1931 in Kankakee, Illinois to Miller and Edna (Morris) Fitzpatrick. He graduated from the Maquoketa High school in 1949. He married Joan M. Brooks on May 31, 1950 in Nashua, Iowa. Franklin had worked for the city of Maquoketa from 1949 to 1951, and then joined the United States Army serving from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean war, earning the rank of Sergeant. After receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to work for the City of Maquoketa as an electrician from 1953 to 1987, when he retired due to disability. Those left to honor his memory include, his wife, Joan Fitzpatrick of Maquoketa, IA; children, Kenneth Fitzpatrick of Birmingham, AL, Dave (Brenda) Fitzpatrick of Maquoketa, IA, Paul (and fiancé, Wendy) Fitzpatrick of Marengo, IA and Kate Anderson of Lost Nation, IA: 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Franklin L. "Fitz" Fitzpatrick memorial fund.
