MUSCATINE, Iowa - Jim Harder, 71, of Muscatine, died on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at his home.
Private Graveside Service will be held in Greenwood Cemetery. Celebration of Life Gathering will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2012, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Muscatine Humane Society.
Jim was born on April 11, 1941, in Muscatine, the son of Harry and Anna Marie Bosten Harder. He was a graduate of Muscatine High School, class of 1959. He married Rosemary Shoppa on April 13, 1963, in Corona, California.
He retired from Monsanto in 1993 and then started his own business, Tech Consulting, LLC.
He served on the Muscatine City Council for six years from 1986 until 1992.
He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge No. 304, where he served as Past Exalted Ruler.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Rosemary Harder of Muscatine; one son, Jason Harder of Muscatine; five grandchildren, Austin Harder, Carson Harder, Alec Vogel, Colten Vogel, and Jenna Vogel; one sister, Mary Kay 'Susie' McKnight and husband, Larry, Holmen, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.
