Alfred Joseph Freilinger was born December 25, 1924, in St. Joseph, Iowa, the son of John and Susie (Meyerhofer) Freilinger. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in St. Joe and graduated in 1943.
After his schooling Alfred began to farm which he continued until his retirement in 2006. Alfred remained on the farm until August of 2009 when he moved to Humboldt.
Alfred enjoyed working and being on the farm, hunting, fishing and going to dances. He was an active member of the St. Joseph Parish.
Alfred died Sunday, September 30, 2012, at the Humboldt Care Center North in Humboldt, Iowa, where he had been a resident since May of this year. He was 87.
He is survived by his sister, Alvina and her husband, Irvin Kenne of Algona, Iowa; 11 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Susie; brother, Walter Freilinger and sister, Sister Virginia Freilinger.
