DON R. Le DUC Mr. Don Le Duc, of the Town of Cedarburg, passed away at Horizon Hospice in Mequon early Wednesday morning, October 3, 2012. He was 79 years old. Don was born in South Milwaukee on April 7, 1933, son of Raymond and Roberta Zilg Le Duc. He attended local schools, and graduated from UW Milwaukee with a Bachelors degree in History. Don served his country in the US Army before continuing his education. He received his Law degree from Marquette University in 1962 and later earned his PhD in Mass Communications from UW Madison. On October 24, 1959 Don was united in marriage with Alice Pranica at St. Louis Catholic Church in Abrams. The couple lived in Milwaukee before moving to Madison. After Don began teaching, they moved to Maryland and Ohio. Don was a Professor of Mass Communications at UW Madison from 1972-1984, at the University of Alabama from 1985-1987, where he held the Ronald Reagan Chair of Communication, and then at UW Milwaukee until he retired in 1997. Don was a true renaissance man; as well as teaching, he was the published author of four textbooks, enjoyed poetry, classical music and had a passion for building model railroads and electric trolleys. ...[more]

t importantly, Don loved spending time with his family. Mr. Le Duc is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Alice, their two children: Paul (Robin) Le Duc of Sussex and Marie (Mark) Mejac of Elm Grove and three grandchildren: Paul, Sara and AJ. He is further survived by brothers- and sisters- in-law: Alan (Valerie) Pranica and Bernie (Kerry) Pranica, both of Sobieski, John (Becky) Pranica of Appleton, Renee (Denny) Heikkila of Iron River, MI and Susie Forrest of Osswego, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Tom Pranica. Funeral Services for Don will be held at 2PM on Saturday , October 6th, at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Ave., Cedarburg. Father Jim Ernster will officiate. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg following the service. The family will receive visitors on Saturday from 12 noon-2 PM at the Funeral Home.
