Joan Krog

Joan Kathleen Krog, 81, of Vincent, Iowa, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012 at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at the Corpus Christi Church with Rev. Shane Demon officiating. Burial will be in Newark Township Cemetery near Vincent. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Survivors include her husband, Russell Krog of Vincent; their children, Cynthia of Ames, Dave (Kim) of Des Moines, and Douglas (Karla) of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Michael (Andrea) of West Des Moines, Alexandra of West Des Moines, Andrew of Ann Arbor, MI, and Benjamin of Iowa City; a great grandson, Miles of West Des Moines; and a brother, Jerry Gaffey of Kenosha, WI. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Grace Gaffey; three brothers, Billy Gaffey, Lieutenant Greg Gaffey and James Gaffey; and her two sisters, Grace Gavronski and Marge Mutschler. nd worked several years for the phone company. On January 21, 1956, she married Russell Krog at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Fort Dodge. Russell and Joan made their residence and farmed near Vincent. For many years Joan taught catechism class at St. Johns Catholic Church in Vincent. She loved time spent with her grandkids. Joan maintained her sense of humor and a strong faith throughout her life. Memorials may be left to the Breast Cancer or to the Alzheimer's Association.
