Jesse N. Shady, Jr., 79, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Sunday, October 7, 2012, at his home in Maquoketa, Iowa. Friends and family may gather for "One Last Salute"© in remembrance of Jesse on Friday, October 12, 2012, from 5 to 7 P.M. in "The Bistro" at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Private graveside services and burial will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012, from the Monmouth, Iowa Cemetery with military honors. Jesse Neville Shady, Jr. was born on September 25, 1933 in Jackson County, Iowa, to Jesse Neville and Helen (Johnson) Shady, Sr.. He was a graduate of Maquoketa Community High School and attended DeVry Electrical College in Chicago, Illinois. He then entered the U.S. Navy serving for ten years. He married Georgia R. Lund on April 2, 1954 in Kahoka, Missouri. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, Jesse began a career as a mechanic. He owned and operated Economy Garage for 25 years, first in Dundee, Illinois and then in Maquoketa. In 1986, he started Timber City Diesel in Maquoketa until his retirement in 2002. front porch. He loved hummingbirds ("hummers") and stock car racing. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Jesse is survived by his wife, Georgia Shady of Maquoketa, IA; children, Dean (Cindy) Shady of Clinton, IA, Dennis (Maureen) Shady of Norfolk, VA, Darla Shady of Bellevue, IA, Daniel Shady of Maquoketa, IA, and Darin (Keri) Shady of Maquoketa, IA; 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Elaine Watters of Maquoketa, IA; brothers, Harry (special friend, Audra) Shady of Zwingle, IA, Ted Shady of Maquoketa, IA, and Earl "Butch" (Kathy) Shady of Maquoketa, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and daughter in infancy, and a brother, James Shady, Sr.. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Jesse N.
