Phyllis Jeannette Dicks, age 83, of Marshalltown, formerly of Moravia, passed from life on October 20, 2012 at the Southridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Marshalltown. Phyllis was born April 26, 1929 to John and Lucy (Vaughn) Laws. She was one of three children with brothers, John and Dale. Phyllis joined in marriage to Paul Eugene Dicks on April 2, 1950. From this union came two children: Nick Paul Dicks and Fonda Joleen Dicks. Phyllis, with her ever present smile, will be missed dearly by all who knew her, but most of all by her family. Her loving husband of sixty-two years, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will always remember her kindness and constant caring presence in their lives. She and her husband loved traveling and wintering in Texas for fourteen years. Her enjoyment for life was infectious with many interests including gardening, sewing, quilting, cooking, shopping, and of course time spent with family and friends. Phyllis was a long time member of the Iconium United Methodist Church, where she spent a great deal of her time serving the Lord. lltown; six grandchildren, Erin (Matt) Thompson Nathan (Brittany) Dicks, Kelly Eige, Geoffrey Dicks, Jessica (Chris) Lesley, and Ashley (Ken) Edwards, and seven great grandchildren. Her grandchildren provided her with great joy and happiness. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lucy, brothers, Dale and John, and her beloved son, Nick. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 26, 2012 at the Iconium United Methodist Church in Iconium with Rev. Richard Grimes officiating. Inurnment will take place in Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia. Phyllis' family will be present one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services at the Church.
