Delbert Hardy MISSOURI VALLEY, Iowa--Delbert Hardy, 85, of Missouri Valley, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2012, at the Longview Care Center in Missouri Valley. Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2012, at the Hennessey- Aman Funeral Home - Missouri Valley. Military Honors will be conducted by Julius F. Muller American Legion Post # 337 of Missouri Valley. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2012, at the funeral home. Delbert was born on December 17, 1926, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Frank and Dale Stratton Hardy. Delbert graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1944. After High School he joined the Navy and served from 1944-1945. He married Zoë Louise Tracy June 15th, 1946, and they later divorced. He attended the University of Iowa and graduated in 1950 with a major in History and a minor in Music. In 1969, he earned a master's degree from the University of Guam with a major in Education. Delbert worked for many years as a High School Band Instructor in many towns throughout Iowa including Wadena, Oakland, Hamtton, Nichols, Letts and Grandview. Survi...[more]

ors include his daughter, Tracy Johnson and husband, Stevens, of Bemidji, Minnesota; grandchildren, Gwyneth Tracy Sawyer and husband, Christopher, of Hopkins, Minnesota, and Cara Johnson of Owatonna, Minnesota; his former wife, Zoë Hardy of Jackson, Wyoming; a sister Eleanor Spayde of Mansfield, Ohio; and a brother, Franklin Hardy and wife, Dorothy, of Crawfordsville. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents.
