Robert "Bob" Russell

Robert Lee Russell was born June 20, 1943 in Estherville, IA to Woodrow and Ruth (Kelly) Russell. Bob grew up in Whittemore, IA and graduated from Garrigan High School in Algona. He then attended electronics school in Omaha and returned to Algona where he worked for Tom's TV. Bob loved electronics and always enjoyed a challenge. Over the years Bob started several successful businesses. Before retiring, he loved working with his family at Cellular Dimensions in Algona. On August 4, 1978, he was united in marriage to Anne Thompson-Martin in Algona. Bob had a passion for all types of music and enjoyed playing golf. His greatest love was his grandchildren. He loved being a Grandpa. He was always there for his grandchildren and loved following all of their school activities. You could always find him supporting them and cheering them on from the bleachers. Bob was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Algona and enjoyed participating in the music with the worship team. Bob died suddenly at his home in Algona on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the age of 69. Also surviving are brothers and sisters, Richard Russell and wife Ellie of Des Moines; Mary and husband John Hollaway of Sarasota, Florida; Thomas Russell of Des Moines; Joan and husband Onnie Akridge of Mallard; and Jean and husband Daniel Green of Algona. Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
