Christopher M. Coleman, 49, of Fort Dodge, died Thursday, November 22, 2012 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. A celebration of Chris' life will be 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 24, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with Pastor Kelly Moore officiating. The family will greet friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Saturday at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Chris is survived by his wife and best friend of 20 years Katie; sons, Jacob Mark Coleman, Lucas David Degen, Joshua Dean Coleman and Jeremy Matthew Coleman, all of Fort Dodge; granddaughter Maria Blair Coleman; siblings, Rosalie Jayne Schiek and Dixie Sue Coleman, both of Mason City; Cindy Jean (Gil) Semprini, Altoona; John 'Jack' (Shirley) Coleman, Littleton, Texas; Gerald 'Joe' Eldon (Susan) Coleman, Peoria, Illinois; Tim Michael (Roberta) Coleman, Missouri; Patrick Francis (Janice) Coleman, Minnesota; mother-in-law, Josie (Robert) Campbell, Fort Dodge; father-in-law A. David Degen, Lehigh; sister-in-law Libby 'B' Degen; and several nieces and nephews. n, the son of Alfred James and Dorothy Mae (Owens) Coleman, was born July 29, 1963 in Clarion, Iowa. He lived in Fort Dodge and then graduated from Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson High School. Chris returned to Fort Dodge where he worked as a bartender, was in sales and was a truck driver, most recently for C&S Products. On February 14, 1998, Chris was united in marriage to Catherine Jo Degen. Chris was an avid hunter of pheasants, deer and turkey. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and attending the activities of his kids. He treasured time spent with his family, especially his granddaughter Maria and his beloved dog Butch and he will be remembered for laughter he brought to his friends and family with the jokes he shared.
