Mr. Clyde Warren Erickson, 76, of Sperry, died at 3:15 p.m. Sunday, December 2, 2012, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born January 18, 1936 in Puritan Michigan, he was the son of Alfred T. and Mabel Lavine Olson Erickson. On December 17, 1960 he married Juanita Marie Fichthorn in Washington, Iowa. Mr. Erickson was a 1954 graduate of Burlington High School. He served in the Air Force as a survival instructor from 1955 - 1957. After receiving a hardship discharge, he continued in the Air Force Reserves until 1963. He was an electrician from 1959 until his retirement in 1987. He was also an all-around tinkerer and inventor. He and his brother had a patent on an electric car and he loved to customize cars. Mr. Erickson was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dodgeville, the Elks Club and I.B.E.W. Local 13. He was a Hawkeye fan, enjoyed Mediapolis sports, fishing and was a winter Texan. He enjoyed cards and board games with friends and family and will be fondly remembered for his jokes. perry, and Neil (Jenny) Erickson of Denver; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild and one sister, Elizabeth Shea of Portland, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Kent William Erickson, one brother and one sister. Friends may call from noon until 7 p.m. Thursday, December 6th, at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Erickson will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 7th, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Dodgeville. The Rev. Fr. David Steinle will be the celebrant. Interment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
