James Claude Sweatt, 88, died on December 9, 2012 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. James is survived by his wife Irene; daughter Terry-lynn and son Richard Reed; his sister Wilma Beakley and brother Ashley Sweatt. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his sister Claudia Rue. James Claude Sweatt was born on July 3, 1924 in Martin Tennessee. He was raised and educated in Hickman County. He served in the U.S. Navy abroad the USS Intrepid during WW II 1943-1946 at the rank of Coxwain. James married Irene Reed on April 26, 1946 in Fort Dodge. They made their home in Coalville. James was employed by National Gypsum Company as the mill superintendant and personnel manager. He retired in 1986. He later worked part time for Clement Auto. James was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served as a youth leader and church treasurer. He was an active member of the Order of Masons, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine and order of DeMolay Advisory Council. James held a private pilots license and was a member of Plane Crazies.
