Eugene LeRoy Anderson was born on January 10, 1932, in Lakefield, Minnesota to Lester and Luella (Hohenstein) Anderson. He was baptized at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Delafield Township, Minnesota and later confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield, Minnesota. He received his education from Lakefield Public School where he graduated with the Class of 1951. On May 4, 1957, Gene was united in marriage to Myrna Baarstad at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with four children, Janet, Gary, Brad, and Angela. After their marriage, Gene and Myrna lived in Windom, Minnesota where Gene worked as a foreman at Toro from 1952 until 1976. He also managed the Windom Country Club in the 1960's and the Loon Lake Golf Club in the 1970's. Gene also worked at Coast to Coast and Gordy's before he retired. In 1971, Gene became disabled due to an accident. In the past few years, Gene's health started to decline and in September of 2012, Gene moved into the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom where he lived until passing away on Sunday morning, December 30, 2012 at the Windom Area Hospital at the age of 80. American Lutheran Church in Windom where he was an usher for many years. He was also a member of the Lions Club and the Eagle's Club. Gene will be remembered for his love of golfing, trapping, hunting, playing cards, along with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed his mornings at the senior center having coffee and playing cards. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Myrna Anderson of Windom; four children, Janet Anderson and her husband, Mike, of Windom; Gary Anderson and his wife, Kelly, of Windom; Brad Anderson and his wife, Tammy, of Winnebago; and Angela Rais of Rosemount; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ron Anderson and his wife, Alice, of Austin; Les Anderson and his wife, Colleen, of Cottonwood, CA; and Curt Anderson and his wife, Edna, of Fresco, TX; one sister-in-law, Joyce Anderson of Les Summit, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Veronica Anderson; and one brother, Maurice Anderson. Blessed be the memory of Eugene Anderson.
