JAMES SHIPP SR. MUSCATINE, Iowa - James F. Shipp Sr., 75, of Muscatine, died on Monday, January 7, 2013, at Carrington Place. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2013, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend John Brown of the Fruitland Baptist Church will officiate. Honorary bearers will be his grandchildren, and Charles Luttrull, Cathy Shipp, and Russell Shipp. Bearers will be Jerry Shipp Jr., Jason Shipp, Tyler Shipp, and Mike Shipp. Burial will take place at Island Cemetery, Fruitland. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2013, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Fruitland Baptist Church. James was born on March 31, 1937, in Waverly, the son of Francis and Ella Stifner Shipp. He married Judith A. Birch on July 15, 1960, in Miami, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on August 26, 2006. He worked in construction. He belonged to Labor Union 888. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, but most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.
