Patty "Joan" Hewitt

Patty "Joan" Hewitt, 74 of Monroe passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 with her loving family by her side. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation and begin at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Stephen Taylor officiating. Joan was born on July 11, 1938 to Floyd and Margaret (Banks) Kingery in Marion County, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Monroe High School in 1956. After graduation she moved to Des Moines and worked at Bankers Life. Joan met and later married James "Jim" Hewitt on March 6, 1965. The couple settled in Monroe where they remained and have been an active part of the community. Joan was a true entrapanuer and ran many of her own businesses including: Avon sales representative, childcare services, machine quilting company, and was a homemaker and caregiver for so many. Joan was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church and was a member, for over 50 years, United Methodist Women, and the Avon President's Club. Memorials may be directed to the Monroe United Methodist Church, Monroe Fire and Rescue, or Alzheimer's Association.
