LEO GLENDE AUGUSTA, Georgia - Leo Sterle Glende, 87, of Augusta, Georgia, died on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home. Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 14, 2013, at Greenwood Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the combined squads of the V.F.W. Post 1565 and American Legion Post 27. There will be no visitation. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Leo was born on August 17, 1925, in Winona, Minnesota, the son of Walter Wesley and Selma Iverson Glende. He married Margaret Roth on June 16, 1976, in Champaign, Illinois. She preceded him in death in 2007. He was a retired US Navy Chief having served during World War II. Survivors include one son, Isaiah Matthew of Bethel Springs, Tennessee; two daughters, Kathryn Mills of Augusta, Georgia, and Linda Kilbride of Maricopa, Arizona; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter Glende of San Jose, California, and Marlys Morken of Winona, Minnesota.
