er at the Stoughton Country Club where she was a champion. She encouraged Barney to play golf with her, and he encouraged her to hunt with him. They traveled the state in their Harley-Davidson motorcycle. They hunted pheasant near Stoughton and deer in the north. Jean was famous for shooting a bear near Tomahawk; its skin became a rug in her office. They had several beloved hunting dogs, one of whom was named William Butler Yeats after the poet. Barney and Jean loved to garden, and grew vegetables and grapes in their yard. Each year, they made wine from their own grapes and labeled it "Norwegian Happiness." Jean is survived by her nieces Mary Lou Birkett Goodfriend (Ted) of Madison, Joan Brown of Chicago, and Jacqueline Pettiford of Chicago, and their children and grandchildren. Jean's family wishes to give thanks for the attentive and loving care she received from the staffs at Harmony House and Stoughton Hospital, and the doctors at Dean Care Stoughton. Her church and its Pastors Mark Petersen and George Carlson wrapped her in love and kindness. We also want to thank Jean's loyal friends in Stoughton and elsewhere in Wisconsin for their support and kindness. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Covenant Lutheran Church, 1525 N. Van Buren, Stoughton. A visitation will be held from 9 am until the time of service. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. Donations may be made to Covenant Lutheran Church, Stoughton.
