Bruce D. Van Horn, 57, Green Bay, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at home surrounded by his immediate family and best friend Lee after his courageous two year battle with Multiple Myeloma. Bruce was born December 5, 1955 to Janice (Rogers) and David Van Horn. He was a 1974 graduate of Green Bay West High School and attended NWTC. He married Jane Carter on June 19, 1982 in De Pere. Bruce was employed with the City of Green Bay, DPW for 36 years. He also programmed and set up voting machines for the city for 31 years. Bruce was an avid bow hunter, proud of running four marathons and enjoyed playing basketball. He was a talented carpenter/woodworker. His home and cottage as well as businesses and other dwellings stand in testament to his craftsmanship. He was a long time race fan and enjoyed the last two years helping his son, Brett, build and race Wisconsin Sport Trucks. Bruce spent the first few months of his retirement recovering from a stem cell transplant which he received in 2011 at Mayo Clinic. Wendy (Al) Duerr, Lisa Perrizo; brother: Brian Van Horn; sister-in-law: Loretta (Harvey) Brown; brother-in-law: Jerry (Kathy) Carter; godchildren: Evan Sannes and Kayla Duchateau; very best friend and business partner Lee Duchateau; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Proceeded in death by grandparents: Edward Van Horn, Ernest and Anna Rogers; mother/father-in-law: Levi and Edith Carter; sister/brother-in-laws: Frank and Donna Mae Carter, Ray and Jean Carter, Thomas Carter. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm Friday, February 15, at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, with a parish wake service taking place at 7 pm. Visitation will continue Saturday, February 16, from 10 to 11 am. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1224 - 12th Avenue, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am.
