Charles Patrick Nolan was born March 18, 1923, west of Ayrshire, Iowa, the son of Edward Paul and Anna Agness (Duffy) Nolan. Charles was a graduate of Silver Lake High School. Following his education, he joined the Merchant Marines serving during WWII. He worked many of those years in Seattle where he retired.
Charles was a member of St. James Cathedral in Seattle, Washington. He was also a member of the Knights of
Columbus and Seaman's Club. He enjoyed the time he spent serving both organizations.
On Wednesday, May 23, 2007, Charles Nolan passed away at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. He was 84.
He is survived by three sisters: Geraldine Nolan of Edina, Minnesota, Mary O'Neill of Des Moines, Iowa and Gertrude Larick of Waukon, Iowa; nieces and nephews: William Larick of Anchorage, Alaska, Robert Larick of Washington, D.C., Paula Frengle of Waukon, Iowa, David & Dawn Nolan of Punca, NE and Holly and Malchom
Fleming.
