Alver Joseph Reiman

Alver "Al" Joseph Reiman was born April 18, 1922, in Lake City, Iowa, the son of Edward and Christine (Bellinghausen) Reiman. He attended St. Augustine School in Halbur, Iowa. Following his education, Al served in the United States Army during WWII where he served in Japan as a Staff Sargent. Al was united in marriage to Margaret Wernimont on May 23, 1950, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Auburn, Iowa. Al began his working life as a butcher for Wernimont Meat Packing. He worked mostly in agricultural related fields. Al was a custom crop sprayer for 25 years, and he worked in sales for Vigortone Ag Products from 1969 - 1998. Al and Maragaret farmed crops and had a cow-calf operation for over 57 years. The couple lived in Auburn, Carroll and Lidderdale, Iowa before coming to Ayrshire where they have been actively farming since 1954. Al was very involved with supporting 4-H cattle projects. He enjoyed horses, baseball, gardening and antique tractor rides. r Association. On November 23, 2007, Alver J. Reiman passed away at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg after a courageous battle with a bone marrow disease. He was 85. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Margaret of Ayrshire; three children: Robert of Ruthven, Lois Stafford (Dan) of Pawnee Rock, KS and Gary (Lisa) of Ayrshire; four brothers: Raymond Reiman (Geri) of Greenfield, WI, Orville Reiman (Marge) of Lake View, IA, Vern Reiman (Elayne) of Carroll, IA and Roy Reiman (Bobbi) of Greendale, WI; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two aunts: Aggie Reiman of Carroll, IA and Helen Behrens of Halbur, IA. He was preceded in death by four infant children: Joseph, Jane, Karen and Kenneth and two grandsons: Joseph Stafford and Ryan Reiman.
