Irene Julia Crook, the eldest daughter of Bill and Agnes (Koch) Weir was born July 31, 1919 in Emmetsburg. She was raised in Emmetsburg and attended St. Mary's Academy through the 11th Grade.
On April 24, 1940, Irene was united in marriage to LeRoy Crook in Emmetsburg where they made their home and raised their family. She worked at Larson's Produce and Berkley and Company until her retirement.
Irene and LeRoy were the typical "Two Peas in a Pod." They were never far from one another. Together they enjoyed dancing, camping, family and each other.
On December 17, 2010, Irene Crook passed away at the Emmetsburg Care Center.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Bill (Mary Jo) of Cylinder, grandchildren: Joleen (Darwyn) Frideres of Wesley, Ron Crook (Lou Ann) of Denison, Linda (Brian) Garman of Whittemore and six great-grandchildren; three sisters: Bridget Meinke of Des Moines, Gertrude "Gerty" Lammers of Emmetsburg, and Edna "Tooty" Guinn of Graettinger.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband LeRoy in August of 2009; four brothers; four sisters and one great-granddaughter.[more]
