Helen Cantor Glick (Dec. 6, 1917 - Feb. 11, 2013) Helen Cantor Glick, 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep in her home in Sherman Oaks, California on Feb 11, 2013. She was still winning at bridge and giving people advice, whether they wanted it or not, up until her death. Funeral services will be held at the Mt. Sinai Chapel on February 13, at 11 AM with Rabbi Lori Shapiro officiating. Burial will follow, when Helen will join her beloved husband Lewis Glick and her daughter Sandra Glick Lodge, whose deaths preceded hers. Afterwards, family will gather at the home of David and Nancy Lodge; a shiva service will be recited at 5 PM. Helen was born in St. Paul, MN. She often recounted the story of how her father drove the family to California through the desert in a car with isinglass windows as the heat made his congestive heart failure worse; her mother did not know how to drive and she and her siblings were very young. In junior high school she was a member of a social group called "the Kosher Yenta Pips"; she remained friends with many of these women until the end of their lives. s Glick. She supported him during his time in the Army Air Force in World War II; during that time their oldest daughter Sandra was born. After the war Lew ran Highland Furniture. Helen and Lew were founding members of El Caballero Country Club. Their son, Philip, was born 10 years after his sister. Helen was always a social soul; she was president of the ladies auxiliary at El Caballero and wrote the social news column for their newsletter for many years. She was involved with many charities and was awarded the prestigious Golda Award from the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. She was a life-long Dodger fan. In addition to her husband and daughter, she is preceded in death by her brother Art and her sister Fern. She is survived by her son Philip (Drucy Borowitz), three grandchildren Lisa (Bradley) Harris, Zoey (Matthew Swerdlin) Glick and Zack Glick and three great-grandchildren Devin Maldonado and Sam and Ruby Harris. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles.
