Jacqueline Ann Fischer
April 24, 1929 - March 7, 2013

Jacqueline Ann Fischer, 83, of Lost Nation, Iowa, died on Thursday evening, March 7, 2013, as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident on Highway 64 and 24th Street just west of Maquoketa.

A celebration of Jacqueline's life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, March 12, 2013, from the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 P.M. on Monday, March 11, 2013 from the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Burial will be at the Union Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa.

Jacqueline Ann Dietz was born on April 24, 1929 at home north of Elwood, Iowa, to John Fred and Helen Amilda (Fuglsang) Mau Dietz. She graduated from Elwood High School in 1946 and married Kenneth Dale Fischer on May 25, 1947 in Maquoketa, Iowa. He preceded her in death on October 6, 1997.

Jacqueline farmed with her husband for 33 years in and around the Elwood area until retiring in 1980. They then moved to Elwood where Kenny worked at the school and drove school bus with her going along as a chaperone. They moved to Lost Nation in 1989. During this time she also worked at RonAnn's Floral Shoppe, Bud's Super Valu in the bakery, Prairie House in the kitchen, and as a Geriatrics nurse staying with people in their homes.

Jacqueline was a member of the Jackson County Historical Society and the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lost Nation. She had been a 4-H leader for many years and was an avid collector of family history, and a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. She was a collector of bird houses, loved flowers all around the yard, and loved playing cards and was one of the original founding members of their card club for over 60 years. She had just returned from spending 3 months with her daughter and family in Arizona.

Those left to honor Jacqueline's memory include her children, Kevin (Lois Ann) Fischer of Maquoketa, IA, and Jane Ann (Garry) Gallant of Sierra Vista, AZ; 4 grandchildren, Robert Heath, C.J. Heath and Jessica Ann Scism of AZ, and Matt Hansen of Maquoketa, IA; 3 great-grandchildren, Colby, Topanga and Jordyn Ann of AZ; a sister, Kay (Richard) Harris of Hopkinton, IA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Kenneth.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Jacqueline Ann Fischer memorial fund has been established.
