Gerald Frederick Porter
June 15, 1925 - March 22, 2013

Gerald F. Porter, 87, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2013 at Trinity Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 27th, at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, where there will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. all at the funeral home.
Survivors include his children, Jerrilyn Brown and her husband Tom of Colorado Springs, CO, Debbie Dressen and her husband Greg of Twin Lakes, Bruce Porter of Twin Lakes, Lynette Kobs and her husband Andrew of Bright, IN, Michelle Peterson and her husband John of Fort Dodge, Kevin Porter of Fort Dodge, Marcia Sundberg and her husband David of Valparaiso, IN; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; sisters, Florence Koester of Fort Dodge and Opel Hudson of Monroe, Washington; LaVonne Pollard of Marshalltown.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Linnie (Messerly) Porter; wife, Marilyn in 2010; brothers, Milton and Delbert Porter; and his sister, Dorothy Wieberg.
Gerald F. Porter was born on June 15, 1925 on a farm east and south of Fort Dodge. He attended schools in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School. On February 6 1948, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Husske at Corpus Christi Church and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Following his education he farmed until 1964. Gerald then owned and operated service stations throughout Fort Dodge, and later a U-Haul Rental business retiring in 1985. He continued to work part time for Norwest Bank until 1994. Gerald was a member of Holy Trinity Church, former Treasurer and member of Knights of Columbus Council 613, and was a past President and member of the Lion's Club.
