Louise Smaw Hanson

Louise S. Hanson 89, of Fort Dodge passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Fort Dodge Marian Home.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, April 20th, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Davis, Pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Gowrie, officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Luncheon will be served at the Lions. (Izaak Walton)
Louise S. Smaw was born May 14, 1923 in Ortega, FL. She was raised in Jacksonville, FL area until moving to Mill Valley, CA in 1935 with her family. She graduated Tamaulipas Union High School in 1942. On September 3, 1942 she was united in marriage to Lloyd Hanson in Mill Valley, CA. Louise worked for Pacific Bell Telephone Company until 1945, when Lloyd and she moved to Fort Dodge. The couple established Hanson Produce. Louise then worked for Hot Line for 21 years. She also owned and operated Hanson's Arabian Farm for over 35 years. She was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. During those years as a leader she was on the committee which chose the location for the Lakota Camp and was the Camp Director for the first two years of its existence. She received the St. Ann's Award for working with the youth. Louise was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Basketball Fan, and Member of Forever 39 Golf.
Louise is survived by her children, Dale M. Hanson of Fort Dodge and Kathleen Johnson and her husband Paul of Gowrie; three grandchildren: Brandi (Ron)Hemesath, Paul Johnson Jr. and Katelyn Johnson and three great-grandchildren Conner Trupe, Landon Hemesath and Josephine Hemesath. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ludie (Fuller) Smaw; husband, Lloyd (Snook) Hanson; brothers, Vance, Paul and Frank Smaw; and a sister, Frances Hensen.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
