"I just found out today of Dick's passing two years ago -- I worked for Dick when I was a few years out of High School, in the Coldwell Banker days. He was always very kind to me and always the life of the office with his jokes and wild sense of humor. I went on into Mortgage Banking with the experience I gained in Dick's office and will never forget him for his mentoring ways. I moved to Texas almost 30 years ago and with the advent of LinkedIn, re-connected with him, it appears, just before he passed away. I think I can almost hear him laugh at all of us that congratulated him this week on 4 years as a mobile notary (lol) his one last joke on us, huh. Rest in peace Mr. Brockman. Congratulations on a wonderful legacy and you are missed. "

Ray Brockman wrote on May 4, 2013:

" Thank you to the Sun Prairie class of '71 for your donation to the Richard Brockman Memorial fund and especially to you Joy for your caring and thoughtful spirit. Knowing there are people like you out there helps during this time of grieving. We are all going to miss "Dad" greatly. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend to all .There are way too many memories to list here but I will never forget the times we discussed the women we were meeting through the personal dating ads in the papers. This was of course before the advent of internet dating services and after my mother's death and my divorce. We would spend mega minutes on the phone sharing our experiences. He found his lovely lady (Mary) before I did. I guess that's what happens when you live farther from "civilization" like I do. But eventually I found my love (Deborah) also but through the internet later on. I was so torn after my divorce and really coming apart but "Dad" was there to offer support and comfort. We travelled together through the U.P. visiting many casinos, eating lots of barbequed ribs, watching the big lake boats locking through at Saul Ste. Marie and travelling into Canada. He loved finding and exploring the waterfalls in the U.P. and many times his daring nature would scare me a little and I would have to tell him to get back away from the edge. Sometimes he made me feel like I was the father and he was the child! But that was Dad, never to be held back and always ready to take a risk. He enjoyed life to the fullest. I sure do miss him and wish I could see him or call him on the phone one more time. I just pray that when Jesus comes back for His saints that we will be together again for eternity with our Lord."

"Hi, I am Joy Reininger, a classmate of Ray. This message isn't about a memory of Dick; but to let Ray know that a donation will be sent to the Richard E. Brockman Memory Fund from Ray's classmates, the Sun Prairie High School Class of 1971. To Ray, our condolences."

"Ever since the day I met my husband & became a part of his family I found grandpa to be one of the most caring, compassionate men I've ever met. I see allot of him in my husband(his grandson Mikey). He always had such good advice & would help any of his family with whatever he could. When we lost or son Tanner he was immediately right there giving us emotional support & a shoulder to cry on. His memory will always be alive in our hearts & minds. And knowing that one day we will all be reunited helps cope with such a great loss. We love you grandpa Rest in Peace, you were an angel in life & now you continue as one in heaven. XoXp"

"I remember Grandpa always calling me his "Sarah Belle", although my middle name is Beth, he enjoyed using Belle instead. Lots and lots of great memories to include going to Copper Falls, driving to Disney World in FL and going to the dump and watching the bears come up to Grandma & Grandpa's car window!! The last visit was last March at Ella's Deli. I am so glad he was able to meet his Great Granddaughter Macie. Grandpa may you rest in peace and finally be with Grandma. Love you and you will be missed by many. "

"Dick and I worked together, at Don Simon Realtors, when the Madison office opened, across from East Towne Mall, and I joined the group. Lot's of good memories of Tuesday property tours, followed by a nice breakfast, somewhere in the County. We tried to schedule the tours to end up in, or near, Waunakee, so we could go to O'malley's. We had quite a caravan, with our C B Radios, so we could stay in touch. (of course, no cell phones, back in those Old Days). Now, in the computer age, we could stay in touch weekly, which we did. We will miss you, Dick. Rest in Peace. "
