May you rest in peace Mr.Howell i know for sure i will see you in heaven one day!"

"Mr. Howell was my favorite teacher my 8th grade year at Walter C. Young Middle School. Though I wasn't a "teacher's pet" or the star student of our class, I had always felt kind of connected to him in a way I don't quite understand. When I got news of his accident and passing, how sudden it was, I was utterly devastated and actually cried for a couple days as if he were a relative or something... At the end of my 8th grade year, I told him I would come back to visit him while I was in high school. I kept forgetting and forgetting and then, it became much too late. Still can't believe he's gone... May you rest in peace Mr. Howell, I'll never forget you."

"Passing WCY school this morning to drop off my son to a nearby high school we noticed the marque at WCY in loving memory of Patrick Howell. My son was very upset and sad that this wonderful teacher had passed away. He told me that Mr. Howell was his all time favorite teacher. From reading the messages here in this forum I know he most have been such a wonderful & kind human being as well as an inspiring teacher to so many people. "Patrick, I will always remember my first visit to America. You showed me around your neighbourhood and we drove to a McDonald's drive thru. You drove off with your fries in one hand and using the index finger on your other hand to steer through the streets on our way to downtown. "That's how we drive over here." I recall you saying. I will remember your laugh which would make any room that you were in a much happier place. I will always remember the fun times we had growing up in south London. You'll be sorely missed. Rest in peace. Uncle Carl."

"Patrick and I worked together for 14 years. When Patrick started teaching at WCY he quickly became one of my favorite teachers. Patrick was always a gentleman, always helpful, and made my job as 8th grade secretary easier by always complying with deadlines. I will miss hearing him say, "He/She is on the way," whenever I called his classroom for a student, I will miss his humble smile, and I will also miss him spoiling me with Russell Stover sugar-free chocolate covered coconut. I will never forget Patrick, he will always hold his own special place in my heart, and I will always save him his seat at my Thanksgiving table. Patrick never had an unkind word to say about anyone, and he was loved by everyone! I will miss him, but I know I will see him again one day!"

"Patrick and I started working at WCY the same year. He was a quiet, gentle soul that became my friend while taking classes through St. Thomas University. We studied together, laughed together, and he taught all my ELL students this year. Patrick touched the lives and hearts of all his students. The faculty and staff of Walter C. Young has lost a true educator and a good friend. "

"Patrick was my Omega Psi Phi Greek brother! He was my co-worker, a true professional. He was a gentleman and always had a smile on his face. Whenever I needed something sweet to eat, I knew I could send a student to Mr. Howell's classroom. If he didn't have anything, the next day he would send something to my room. He was so thoughtful, not only with the staff but definitely with his students. He will certainly be missed at Walter C. Young Middle!"
